Hanoi: The Vietnamese government has put forth a proposal to the National Assembly (NA) aimed at waiving hospital fees for near-poor households and elderly individuals aged over 75, starting in 2027. This initiative was reported by local daily Thanh Nien.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan introduced the proposal during the ongoing session of the 15th NA on Monday. Alongside the fee waiver, the government has also suggested that, from 2026, citizens should be entitled to at least one free annual health check-up or screening.

The proposed funding for these periodic health check-ups will be sourced from the health insurance fund and the state budget, as detailed in the report.
