Walvis Bay shooter denied bail

The 31 year old Walvis Bay Police Officer who reportedly shot his ex-girlfriend at the town last week was on Monday denied bail.

Herman Abed, who made his first court appearance before Magistrate Rhivermo Williams in the Walvis Bay Magistrate Court reportedly shot the 22 year old victim Selma Uupindi in the stomach, arm and back.

According to media reports, Abed reportedly shot Uupindi three times after he asked her to pay back the money for clothing items he had previously bought for her while they were still in a relationship.

It is alleged that the suspect shot the victim who was seated with her friends in front of her residence in Kuisebmund, with a service pistol.

Abed who was given a choice to make a formal bail application opted to apply for a private lawyer to represent him during the attempted murder case.

The case has been remanded to 05 November 2019.

Prosecutor Maggy Shiyagaya represented the state.

Uupindi is recovering in a Windhoek Hospital.
