Water and electricity are reconnected at several government schools

Water and electricity were reconnected at several government schools that had their services cut due to outstanding debt with the City of Windhoek (CoW).

In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture said it had talks with CoW officials over the N.dollars 55 million owed by schools.

Local media reports on Thursday said the money is owed by more than 180 schools in the Khomas Region and the services of the nine schools with the highest amounts of outstanding debt, were disconnected.

An arrears repayment agreement was reached and an amount of N.dollars 30 million will be effected by 08 August 2019.

The remaining N.dollars 25 million will be settled in instalments of N.dollars 5 million, additional to the ongoing monthly invoices.
