We will be ready for Guinea in November: Kanalelo

WINDHOEK: National senior football team Brave Warriors assistant coach Ronny Kanalelo said the team will be ready to face Guinea in its next round of the 2018 Russia World Cup preliminary round qualifiers.

Namibia beat Gambia 2-1 here on Tuesday in its 2018 International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) World Cup preliminary qualifiers.

They will now face Guinea in further qualifying games on 09 and 17 November 2015.

Namibia and Guinea has already played twice in the 1994/95 African Nations Cup (Afcon) qualifiers to which Guinea won once and then drew the other game.

Speaking at a media briefing after the game Kanalelo said as coaches their jobs is to prepare their teams to the best of their ability and compete with whomever they face.

“We always prepare teams to win games and when we face Guinea it will be a game of 11 players aside despite them having most of their players based in Europe.

“We played Senegal before who are also having players based in Europe and we did a good job and now the same applies with Gambia who we just defeated all their players are based in Europe,” said Kanalelo.

The coach added that the only thing that the team has to worry about is minimizing on their mistakes and start capitalizing on all the chances they create.

“Football is about confidence and we are having a team of young footballers who are growing in confidence each game they step into the field to represent their country. We are happy that we are facing more of this West African countries as this will help our players grow mentally, get used to the weather on the other side and gain more experience playing against this players who have European experience,” stated Kanalelo.
