Windhoek West Constituency Councilor dies

WINDHOEK: Windhoek West Constituency Councillor Shikwetepo Haindongo passed away in the early hours of Tuesday at the Ongwediva Medi-Park after a short illness.

He was 61.

Announcing his death at a media conference in the capital on Tuesday, Khomas Regional Council chairperson Zulu Shitongeni said Haindongo fell ill on Monday, and was admitted to that hospital on the same day.

He described the late Haindongo as ‘a visionary and dedicated leader’ who previously served as Chief Regional Officer for the Khomas Regional Council from 2004 to 2008, before he was elected councillor for the Windhoek West Constituency.

“His death is indeed a great loss to the Khomas Regional Council and the Windhoek West Constituency in particular, and it goes without saying that Honourable Haindongo has left a gap in the political landscape of the country. We will miss him dearly,” Shitongeni noted.

No funeral arrangements were announced.
