Witvlei Village Council receives qualified audit opinion

The Witvlei Village Council received a qualified audit opinion from the office of the Auditor General (AG) for the financial year ended 30 June 2018.

In the report submitted to the National Assembly by Finance Minister, Calle Schlettwein on Tuesday, it found an unrecorded expenditure amounting to N. dollars 121 573.

An amount N. dollars 701 311 is wrongly classified according to the report and it found that no asset register exists.

The report further found that no depreciation policy exists and claims are not submitted after trips undertaken.

The village council also fail to provide document for revenue amounting to N. dollars 675 723 and value-added tax returns are submitted late.

The AG Junias Kandjeke also found that there is a wrong tariff for refuse removal, no provision for bonus and no accounting policy and reporting framework at the council.

There is a difference of N. dollars 517 536 between the financial statements and the debtors' age analysis, explained Kandjeke.

The AG added that the cash flow statements and the notes to the financial statements were not provided.
