A 28-year-old woman died instantly in the Telecom informal settlement at Otjiwarongo on Sunday night after she was allegedly stabbed multiple times all over her body by her boyfriend.

Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Unit Commander for Community Affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha in an interview with Nampa on Monday said the deceased was identified the same night by her close relatives as Auguste Jonas.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that the incident occurred after Jonas was allegedly found in her house with another man at approximately 20h45 on Sunday.

“The 31-year-old suspect who is the boyfriend of the deceased fled the scene after the incident, and was later arrested in the same informal area,” she said.

He is expected to appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court during the week.

In a separate incident, a 20-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself after a quarrel with a 21-year-old woman in the Oshetu informal area no. 2 at Okahandja on Sunday night, Mbeha said.

The deceased has been identified by his close relatives as Brendon Khoeseb.

“His body was found at about 21h20 on Sunday hanged to the roof of a house, ” Mbeha added.

Police investigations in both matters continue.
