A 37-year-old mother and her daughter (age not provided) died on Sunday morning after they were allegedly stabbed by the woman’s boyfriend at Okangwena location in Ondangwa.

Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson for the Oshana Region, Thomas Aiyambo, said in a statement issued Sunday that the mother died shortly after arrival at Onandjokwe Hospital, while the daughter died on the spot.

Aiyambo said the deceased woman’s 13-year-old son was taken to the same hospital, where he is undergoing surgery as he too was allegedly stabbed, while the woman’s youngest daughter, aged five, was taken for counselling as she allegedly witnessed the stabbings.

The Oshana Region Police are requesting the public’s assistance to apprehend the suspect, identified as Simon Kandume from the Ohenghono village in Ohangwena region.

According to Aiyambo, the suspect and the deceased woman were in a relationship, where they had three children together.

“It is yet to be known what happened that the led suspect to kill his child and girlfriend,” he said.

Police investigations in the matter continue.
