A 25-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging at a family residence in Otjiwarongo on Tuesday night.

Namibian Police Force Unit Commander for Community Affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha on Friday told Nampa the deceased was identified by her close relatives as Anna Catharina Moller.

It is alleged that Moller and her boyfriend together with her brother were at the house socialising with drinks and at about 22h57 that night, she allegedly informed them that she was going outside to smoke, said Mbeha.

“Barely a few minutes after she exited, some relatives who were also at the same house allegedly found her body hanging by a rope from the roof inside the garage,” said Mbeha.

The motive behind her suicide is still unknown as Moller did not leave behind a suicide note, said the police officer.

No foul play is so far suspected and an inquest docket has been opened in connection with the matter at the Otjiwarongo Police Station.
