Woman killed in accident outside Okakarara identified

The 24-year-old woman who died in a road accident Saturday morning outside Okakarara on the gravel road between Okakarara-Okondjatu has been positively identified by her close relatives.

Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha in an interview with Nampa on Monday said MokahuruaTjikurame died that Saturday morning upon arrival at the Okakarara State Hospital where she was taken shortly after the accident.

Mbeha said the accident had occurred some 15 kilometres south of Okakarara when a Toyota double cab Tjikurame was travelling in left the road and overturned several times on the C22 gravel road.

The police officer said a 32-year-old man who was allegedly operating the vehicle was charged for a culpable homicide and operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license that Saturday morning.

Mbeha said this unlicensed man was also charged for a reckless and negligent driving on the public road.

This male driver survived the accident with some serious injuries and was treated to the Okakarara State Hospital, Mbeha said.

Polic investigations continue.
