Woman Murdered At Ubib Reserve

POLICE arrested a 48-year-old man on allegations of beating his lover to death with an unknown object.

Karas police deputy commissioner Rudolf Isaak identified the deceased as Katrina Waterboer.

Isaak said Waterboer died of internal bleeding after the alleged assault over the weekend by her lover at Ubib Reserve, some eight kilometres from Karasburg.

Isaak said the suspect reported the death of his lover himself to the police.

“The deceased was swollen, and had scratch marks on her body as if she was dragged through the bushes,” Isaak said.

Isaak could not say why the suspect had allegedly murdered his lover.

According to Isaak, the suspect has a pending assault case opened against him by the deceased previously.

“This is the third assault on the deceased which led to her death,” said Isaak, adding that the deceased had withdrawn an assault case against the suspect in the past.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Karasburg Magistrate’s Court on a murder charge today, while his other pending case on which he was released on bail of N$ 1 000 is set for 3 September.

Isaak has warned women against withdrawing assault cases against their lovers.
