Woman succumbs to injuries after vehicle overturns near Usakos

A 35-year-old woman, identified as Elsie Gaweses, succumbed to injuries after the vehicle she was traveling in allegedly overturned on the B2 road between Usakos and Karibib on Sunday.

According to a report issued by the Namibian Police Force on Monday, the 29-year old Namibian male driver of the vehicle, a white Toyota Double Cab, was allegedly traveling from Ondangwa to Swakopmund and about three kilometers before Usakos, lost control of the vehicle.

“The vehicle veered off the road and overturned and a 66-year-old Namibian male and 26-year-old Namibian female sustained serious injuries. The deceased’s body has been taken to Usakos State Hospital for further handling and a post-mortem. The injured passengers were also transported to the same hospital for medical treatment,” said the report.

A case of culpable homicide has since been opened against the driver and the deceased’s next of kin have been informed of her death.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
