Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping, who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, has conveyed his greetings to teachers and educators nationwide in anticipation of Teachers’ Day, observed on Wednesday. In a letter directed to eight rural teachers, Xi encouraged them to refine their teaching abilities and focus on developing young individuals with strong moral principles, intellectual capacity, physical strength, aesthetic appreciation, and work skills necessary for advancing the socialist cause.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the letter was addressed to eight representatives from the Special-Post Teachers Program. This central government-funded initiative, operational since 2006, has deployed approximately 1.18 million college graduates to rural schools in central and western China. The program encompasses over 30,000 schools across more than 1,000 counties in 22 provincial-level regions. Over the past two decades, educators involved in the program have exhibited the dedication and responsibility characteristic of the nation’s teachers, Xi remarked in his letter.

He urged these educators to maintain their original educational aspirations and guide children towards healthy development. Premier Li Qiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, also provided instructions on the program, emphasizing the need for teachers and educators to serve in areas where the country and its people need them most, thereby contributing to the development of a robust educational system.
