Zemburuka appointed BoN director of strategic communications

The Bank of Namibia (BoN) announced that it has appointed Kazembire Zemburuka as its director of strategic communications, effective 01 January 2022.

In a media statement on Tuesday, BoN Governor Johannes !Gawaxab said the bank also appointed Emma Haiyambo as director of research and financial sector development and chief economist while Florette Nakusera is appointed as director of financial stability and macroprudential oversight.

He said the appointments form an integral part of the execution of the bank’s Strategic Plan 2022-2024 that was launched earlier this month.

“The alignment of functions is geared toward ensuring the bank delivers on the expectations of our stakeholders at a time the central bank readies itself for transformation, modernisation of the financial system and helping the country with its economic recovery objective,” he said.

Zemburuka is a former journalist and versatile broadcaster having worked at the national broadcaster in various roles across the television, radio and news disciplines since 1999. He joined BoN in 2016, as deputy director of corporate communications coordinating the execution of the stakeholder engagement function, and information management services.

Nakusera served as the first female director of the research and financial stability department and chief economist of the bank. She joined BoN as an economist and she has over 15 years of experience in the field of economics, of which over seven years have been in the financial services industry.

Haiyambo joined the bank in 2000 as an economist, she later headed the financial sector development division before she became director of strategic communications and financial sector development in 2016. Her work experience include economic statistics compilation and analysis, economic research, public policy, trade policy and financial sector development.
