Doda: At least four people died and a few went missing in different incidents of cloudburst and flash floods across the Doda region in Indian-controlled Jammu and Kashmir, confirmed the local officials.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the major affected areas were Gandoh, Thathri, and Ramban. The incidents of cloudburst and flash floods led to landslides in several places, resulting in human deaths. “Flash flood hit the Gandoh area this morning, resulting in one death. The incident occurred in an uninhabited area, hence the loss of human lives or property was minimal,” a cop told Xinhua over the phone.
A district-level official in Gandoh also confirmed that rain-related incidents were reported from Tanta and Thathri areas in the Doda region, resulting in three human deaths. Media reports indicated that around 10 houses were either partially or completely damaged, and several roads were swept away in the Doda region. Teams of local disaster management authority had reached the affected places and were trying to find the missing persons.
