The Minister of Education, Arts and Culture Anna Nghipondoka on Friday expressed her disappointment over the 420 learners who scored zero in mathematics nationwide.

Speaking on Friday during the announcement of Advanced Subsidiary (NSSCAS) and Ordinary (NSSCO) level full-time and part-time results concurrently, Nghipondoka said this figure showed evidence that teaching is not being taken seriously in schools.

Calling this unacceptable, she said school principals, department heads and teachers should be organised and properly conduct and monitor the teaching in their schools.

“Teachers should teach the whole curriculum and not leave anything behind,” she slammed.

About 38 019 full time candidates wrote the ordinary level exams, while part-time candidates totalled 32 552.

Advanced Subsidiary full time learners were 8 624 and 591 were part-time candidates.
