Kabul: The Afghan government has disbursed over 136 million U.S. dollars in assistance to widows, orphans, and individuals with disabilities over the past five months, as announced by the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs on Saturday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Ministry Spokesman Mufti Faisal stated that more than 9 billion afghanis, equivalent to over 136 million U.S. dollars, were distributed in direct financial aid to these vulnerable groups throughout the country during the mentioned period.
In addition to the financial support, food and non-food assistance valued at approximately 10 million U.S. dollars was also provided to impoverished families. This was achieved through collaboration with humanitarian organizations, as further explained by the spokesman.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader social welfare effort aimed at alleviating the economic hardships faced by vulnerable segments of society amid ongoing economic challenges.
