Aberdeen: The African Energy Chamber (AEC) has announced its continued support for the West African Energy Summit (WAES), which is set to take place from November 18-19, 2025, in Aberdeen, Scotland. NJ Ayuk, the Executive Chairman of AEC, is scheduled to visit Aberdeen on July 11 to deliver a keynote address at the OGV Taproom, focusing on “Opportunities in Africa” and aimed at the UK supply chain.

According to African Press Organization, the WAES is organized in collaboration with OGV Group and serves as a critical platform for investment, technology transfer, and collaboration between African energy producers and global service providers. Ayuk’s visit highlights AEC’s dedication to fostering strong energy partnerships between Africa and Europe, an essential move given Africa’s evolving oil, gas, and energy transition landscape.

During his visit on July 11, Ayuk will preview the key themes of the African Energy Week (AEW), titled “Invest in African Energies 2025,” which will be held in Cape Town from September 29 to October 3, 2025. This premier energy event will host the G20 Africa Energy Investment Forum, focusing on Africa’s role in the global energy transition and offering a venue for project developers, financiers, and service providers to influence the continent’s energy future.

These initiatives are supported by aggressive investment strategies, regulatory changes, and enhanced participation from national oil companies, creating a competitive environment for foreign investments and technology. As nations in the region strive to reverse production declines, accelerate new discoveries, and drive regional energy integration, events like WAES are vital for forming cross-border partnerships essential for achieving Africa’s energy security, economic growth, and a fair energy transition.

During the summit, Ayuk will engage in the “Africa’s Opportunity for UK Supply Chain Engagement” session, offering insights into the investment-ready landscape across key African markets, including Nigeria, Senegal, Angola, Namibia, and Mozambique. He will also share AEC’s vision for inclusive growth, local content development, and the importance of aligning global expertise with Africa’s long-term energy security goals.

Ayuk emphasized that Africa’s energy future hinges on strategic partnerships that provide technology, capital, and capacity building, with the UK supply chain playing a crucial role as long-term partners in Africa’s growth and resilience.

The WAES event aims to be a pivotal gateway for UK service companies to align with Africa’s energy goals, including deepwater developments, LNG production, and the deployment of renewables and hydrogen. By bridging global innovation with Africa’s resource wealth, the summit seeks to unlock sustainable development, economic growth, and enhanced energy access across the continent.
