Coastal outfit Blue Waters beat Young African 3-1 in the third and fourth place play off on Saturday to win a bronze medal in the 2021 MTC Namibia Football Association (NFA) Aweh Cup.

The finals of the MTC NFA Cup started with a curtain raiser match that saw the National Media Team beat MTC Old Crocks 2-0.

After the curtain raiser, Blue Waters, who lost in the semi-final against Civics last week Saturday, came into the game shooting on all cylinders as they opened the scoring within the opening 20 minutes through a brilliant goal by Prins Tjueza.

The coastal outfit doubled their lead five minutes later when Moses David rebounded on a Young African goalkeeper save to make it 2-0.

Before the halftime break Young African managed to get themselves back into the game when Tjimbauja Kapuuo beat the Blue Waters defence for their consolation goal.

The half time score was 2-1.

In the second-half, Blue Waters once again managed to find their scoring boots through Enrico Hoebeb, who hammered the final nail into the Gobabis-based outfit’s coffin with his team’s third goal.

In an interview with the media after the match, Blue Waters coach, Paulus Shipanga, said he was happy with his team’s performance.

“It has been really long since Blue Waters won a trophy but we told the boys to enjoy themselves today and we should not allow other teams to come bully us at home, so winning the bronze is something we are proud of,” he said.

Meanwhile, Young African Coach, Mali Ngarizemo, said credit should be given to his opponents, as defensive errors cost his team the game.
