Members of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s drug law enforcement unit at Otjiwarongo on Saturday confiscated cannabis with a street value of N.dollars 100 000 at a residence in the Ombili informal settlement.
NamPol spokesperson in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha. told Nampa in an interview on Sunday that a 59-year-old man was arrested at about 20h40 on Saturday in connection with the discovery of the illicit drugs.
“We charged him for dealing in and/or possession of drugs weighting about 10 100 grams,” Mbeha said.
A total of 53 parcels of the cannabis were found at the residence, carrying an estimated street value of N.dollars 101 000, Mbeha said.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
