Chinese Markets See Slight Decline as Key Indices Close Lower

Beijing: Chinese stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.07 percent to 3,913.76 points. The Shenzhen Component Index showed a more significant decrease, closing 0.62 percent lower at 12,996.61 points.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices reached 1.67 trillion yuan, approximately 235.36 billion U.S. dollars, marking a decrease from 1.87 trillion yuan on the previous trading day. Shares related to combustible ice, gas extraction, and engineering machinery recorded gains, while sectors connected to precious metals experienced notable losses.



The ChiNext Index, which tracks China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, also saw a decline, losing 0.79 percent to close at 3,059.32 points on Wednesday.
