Chinese Stock Market Sees Modest Gains as Key Indices Rise

Beijing: Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index registering a 0.22 percent increase to reach 3,922.41 points. The Shenzhen Component Index also mirrored this rise, closing 0.22 percent higher at 13,025.45 points.



According to Namibia press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices amounted to 1.64 trillion yuan, approximately 231.25 billion U.S. dollars, which marked a slight decrease from the previous trading day’s turnover of 1.67 trillion yuan. The trading session witnessed notable gains in shares related to coal, energy, and metal sectors, whereas shares linked to engineering machinery, oil, and gas sectors experienced significant losses.



Furthermore, the ChiNext Index, which tracks China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, showed a modest increase of 0.09 percent, closing at 3,062.16 points.
