Changes date of the awards to 30 October in second sentence

WINDHOEK, 12 OCT (NAMPA) – The Namibia Sports Commission on Monday announced the nominees for the 2021 Namibia Annual Sports Awards, aimed at recognising athletes for their achievements throughout the year.

Making the announcement here, the chairperson of the judging committee for the awards, Lesley Tjiueza said athletes will be awarded in 17 categories on 30 October at the event set to take place in the capital. Two new categories were added to this year’s ceremony – the Professional Shining Star in the Diaspora and Community Inspiration awards – while journalists will this year be awarded in three categories, which are broadcast, print and digital.

The nominees are as follows:

Coach of the Year

1. Grant Dodds – Namibia Canoe and Rowing Federation

2. Hendrick Botha – Athletics Namibia

3. Letu Hamhola – Namibia National Paralympic Committee

Sport Development Programme of the Year

1. Ashburton Kwata Cricket – Cricket Namibia

2. The Standard Bank Junior Hockey Initiative – Namibia Hockey Union

3. Professional Education Training System – Namibia School Sports Union

Junior Sportsman of the Year

1. Magano Naseb – Namibia School Sports Union

2. Delano Muller – Namibian Kickboxing Federation

3. Ruano De Cuvalho – Namibia School Sports Union

Junior Sportsman with Disability of the Year

1. Bradley Murere

2. Julien Rejive

Junior Sportswoman of the Year
