The Council of Southern African Football Association (Cosafa) has revised the 2021 Women’s Championship dates, shifting the tournament by two weeks.

According to the Cosafa website, the tournament, which was scheduled to take place in Nelson Mandela Bay from 15 to 26 September, will now run from September 28 to October 09, two weeks later than originally scheduled.

Cosafa said there will be no further changes to the logistics, with the same number of teams to take part.

The fixtures will, however, see Angola and Mozambique kick off the tournament on September 28, as opposed to the previous fixture of South Africa facing Malawi on opening day.

That match will now be the second fixture of the day.

Namibia will open Group C against guest nation Uganda on 30 September before Zambia and Eswatini in the second Group game.

Group B starts on 29 September with Botswana taking on South Sudan, while another guest nation, Tanzania, will open their competition against Zimbabwe later in the day.

The group stages will conclude on 05 October, with only the top team in each pool advancing to the semifinals along with the best-placed runner-up.

The semifinals will be played on 07 October while the final and third-place play-off will be played on 09 October 2021.

South Africa has won the last four COSAFA Women’s Championships, beating Botswana 2-1 in last year’s final.
