COVID-19: Namibia records 11 new cases and no new deaths

Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Kalumbi Shangula has announced that Namibia on Sunday recorded 11 new Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and no new deaths.

In an update issued on Monday, Shangula said the new cases are part of 1 391 samples tested, representing a 0.8 per cent positivity ratio, with a gender distribution of three females and eight males between the ages of two and 62 years.

The Khomas Region recorded the highest cases at six, followed by Otjozondjupa with three, while Oshana and Omaheke recorded one case each.

Among the confirmed cases are two learners and one healthcare worker, and none of the confirmed cases had received a COVID-19 vaccine.

Namibia on Sunday had 784 active cases, of which 19 were hospitalised and one person admitted in intensive care.

Three new recoveries were also announced, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 124 588.

A cumulative 330 413 people had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by Sunday, of which 55 273 had received one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, while 208 257 had received two doses.
