Fire Destroys 44 Houses at Aussenkehr’s Block Five

Aussenkehr: A fire destroyed 44 houses at Aussenkehr’s Block Five on Saturday, leaving dozens of residents homeless and causing extensive property damage.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the Namibian Police Force confirmed in a crime report that the fire broke out between 13h00 and 14h00. The fire originated in a single residence before spreading to neighbouring structures. Most of the homeowners were reportedly at work when the incident occurred, leading to delays in an immediate response.



While no fatalities were recorded, 36-year-old Salomon Maketa sustained burns to his feet while attempting to retrieve his belongings. He received medical treatment at a local clinic and was subsequently discharged. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and police investigations are ongoing.
