Former Erongo CRO Returns as Region’s First Female Governor

Swakopmund: Newly appointed Erongo Region Governor, Natalia |Goagoses was officially welcomed at a Swapo Party gathering Friday night, where party representatives hailed her appointment and pledged full support towards her mandate to eradicate poverty and unify the region. Speaking at the occasion in Swakopmund, |Goagoses expressed her gratitude for President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah’s decision to appoint her, acknowledging the responsibility entrusted to her among over three million Namibians.



According to Namibia Press Agency, |Goagoses, who served as Erongo’s chief regional officer until 2017, is committed to addressing inequality by collaborating with traditional authorities, regional and local councils, and the business community. She emphasized her dedication to ensuring that no one in the region experiences hunger, declaring, ‘Erongo is too rich for anyone to be poor. From the day I took office, my task was clear; ensure that no one in this region goes hungry.’



|Goagoses outlined her plan for her initial 100 days in office, focusing on fostering unity within the party and the region. She stated, ‘Within my first 100 days in office, I will ensure unity prevails first within the party, then across the region. No one shall be left behind, willing or unwilling, I know how to bring everyone on board.’



Swapo deputy secretary general, Uahekua Herunga, highlighted the significance of the governor’s appointment, comparing it to a parent choosing their sharpest child for the most important task. Herunga remarked, ‘The president, with over three million citizens to choose from, selected her to lead a region that holds the economy of the country in its hands.’



Swapo Erongo regional coordinator Daniel Muhuura described the appointment as historic and symbolic, celebrating |Goagoses as the region’s first female governor. He noted, ‘Tonight, we celebrate the first-ever female governor of this mighty region. After electing a female president, Namibia is showing the world that the future is indeed female.’ Muhuura also mentioned that |Goagoses, by virtue of her role, is an ex-officio member of the Swapo regional executive committee, with full support from the party as she begins her leadership journey.
