Oshakati: The Governor of the Oshana Region, Hofni Iipinge, has reflected on the key developments and concerns of his region during his first 100 days in office. Speaking on Friday at the Oshana Regional Council in Oshakati, Iipinge said his initial days had been marked by intense engagement, careful assessment, and the laying of a foundation for a people-centred, results-driven regional administration.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Iipinge reported that discussions are currently ongoing between his office and the Minister of Health and Social Services to find an alternative solution for the establishment of the Ondangwa District Hospital in the form of a public-private partnership funding model. He further stated that, through the Informal Settlement Upgrading Programme, the government has allocated N.dollars 149 million for the formalisation of Evululuko, Okandjengedi, Uupindi, and Onawa, including the construction of water and sewer infrastructure and the full servicing of Ehenye Extension 1. Iipinge emphasized that these developments will significantly improve living conditions and restore dignity for many residents.

On matters of concern, Iipinge reported that traditional authorities had raised issues of limited funding, a lack of vehicles, and the unregulated mushrooming of churches. He expressed his commitment to advocate for structured support and better coordination between the government and traditional leaders. Additionally, Iipinge highlighted concerns over abandoned State assets, such as the Agricultural Engineering Centre and the Oshakati Abattoir, which remain non-operational. He has brought these issues to the attention of the Minister of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform, requesting urgent action to restore their productive use.
