Namibia’s World Boxing Association (WBA) Pan African Super Bantamweight title holder, Mateus “The Beast” Heita, will defend his title against Jonas Matheus on 28 May 2022 in Walvis Bay.

Heita, who became a champion in December 2021 after defeating Tinashe Mwadziwana of Zimbabwe in his sixth professional bout, will be defending his title for the first time during the MTC Nestor “SunShine” Tobias, Together As One Part 7” Boxing Bonanza.

Speaking during a media conference held here on Wednesday, fight promoter and owner of the MTC Sunshine Boxing stable, Nestor Tobias, said Heita is a very skilled boxer.

“I don’t want to take anything from Jonas (Matheus) who is highly rated and will bring good competition. But I hope he is ready for the Beast, as he trains very hard and everyone is afraid of calling him out because they are afraid of being punished in the ring,” he said.

Tobias added that this will be the first time that two boxers from different stables but with the same sponsor will be fighting for an international title.

“The WBA Pan African title will be held at the Kuisebmund stadium. This shows that boxing is growing every day and wherever Namibians go, they do their best as they compete with the best in the world,” Tobias said.

He also stated that young athletes are being given opportunities to showcase their talent, therefore Namibians must support the upcoming event in Walvis Bay.

“Boxing is all about skills, power and speed. The nation needs to know how this talent is unearthed, and come 28 May 2022, it’s going to be a great fight where a boxer from Sunshine will fight someone from Salute,” he said.

Jonas, who has a record of 19 fights, 14 wins, four defeats and one draw, said it’s going to be war when he steps into the ring to challenge for the WBA Pan African bantamweight title.

“There is going to be a new Jonas and people must come to witness what I will deliver as I challenge for the title,” he said.

Meanwhile, the defending champion Heita, who has a record of six fights and six wins, said he is a man of few words but he is also ready for war.
