Malaysia’s Maybank Reports Higher Profit in 1st Half of Year

Dhaka: Malaysia’s Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) has reported higher profit in the first half of this year, underpinned by an uplift in non-interest income.



According to Namibia Press Agency, Maybank said in a statement on Tuesday that its net profit for the first half rose 4 percent year-on-year to 5.22 billion ringgit (1.24 billion U.S. dollars). Meanwhile, for the second quarter, the firm’s net profit also increased 3.9 percent year-on-year to 2.63 billion ringgit.



“Our first half results reflect a resilient performance despite a challenging backdrop, registering a sustained growth in profitability,” Maybank’s President and Chief Executive Officer Khairussaleh Ramli said. He mentioned that the firm will continue to expand digital solutions, enabling seamless cross-border services and support micro, small, and medium enterprises, as well as wealth clients across borders.
