Man arrested at Omusati for alleged rape of 12-year-old niece

A 27-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping his 12-year-old niece at Onhofi village in the Outapi district of the Omusati Region.

This is according to the weekend crime report issued on Monday by Namibian Police Force spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi.

She said the suspect and the victim live in the same house and the incident allegedly happened on Friday at around 16h00. The suspect had allegedly been calling the victim several times to his room and committed sexual acts with her.

In a separate incident, a 41-year-old man was arrested on Friday at around 21h00 for allegedly assaulting and raping his girlfriend at Okeruru village in the Aminuis Constituency of the Omaheke Region.

The police also arrested a 25-year-old man in Windhoek’s Khomasdal suburb after he was allegedly found in possession of two cannabis parcels weighing 1 980 grams valued at N.dollars 98 000, as well as a cash amount of N.dollars 4 100 during a police operation.

Another man, 47 years old, was also arrested at around 21h10 on Friday in the same suburb, after he was found in possession of four pieces of crack cocaine weighing 20 grams, valued at N.dollars 10 000 during a police operation.

The police is also in search of a suspect or suspects who allegedly stabbed a 43-year-old Zambian man at Rundu in the Kavango West Region on Friday. The victim sustained multiple injuries to his chest, arms and face. The incident allegedly happened on Friday at around 19h00 in Ndama residential area.

The unknown assailants allegedly fled the scene and are still at large.

Police investigations in all matters continue.
