Man with 92 kg Poppy Detained in Northern Afghanistan

Badakhshan: Police have arrested a drug smuggler and discovered 92 kg of opium poppy in his possession in northern Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province, provincial police spokesman Ehsanullah Kamgar said Tuesday.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the alleged smuggler had hidden 92 kg of poppy in the cavities of a car and was attempting to take the contraband out of Badakhshan on Monday. However, the police identified and arrested him.



Kamgar added that the arrested man, along with his car and the confiscated poppy, had been kept in police custody for investigation.



In similar operations, police discovered and destroyed a heroin lab in the Argu district of Badakhshan province a day earlier on Sunday.
