The body of a 27-year-old man was discovered hanging from a tree at Rundu’s Sauyemwa residential area in the Kavango East Region on Monday.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s crime investigations coordinator for the Kavango East Region, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu, told Nampa on Tuesday that the decomposed body was found at around 14h00 near bushes along the Kavango River.
The body was found hanging from a tree with wire around its neck by members of the public, who then alerted the police.
The deceased has been identified as Hausiku Nghilalulwa Nelson, a resident of Gcamande village in the Kavango West Region.
Kanyetu said it was further discovered during preliminary investigations that the deceased was reported missing from March this year.
No suicide note was found and the deceased’s next of kin have been informed
