Namport appoints Ibwima as Port Operations Executive

The Namibia Ports Authority (Namport) has appointed Richard Mutonga Ibwima as its new Executive for Port Operations, with effect from 17 January 2022.

A media release issued by Namport’s communications department on Tuesday said Ibwima who joined Namport in 2015 as a Protection Services Officer in the Risk Management department, was employed as the Manager of Terminals prior to his new appointment.

Ibwima holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a major in Port Management from Middlesex University London in the United Kingdom (UK).

He further possesses a Diploma in Port Management obtained from the Lloyd’s Maritime Academy (UK) and a Certificate in Marketing from the Institute of Marketing Management Graduate School of Marketing in South Africa (SA).

He has also completed a Management Development Programme with the University of Stellenbosch Business School, among other professional development courses and certifications in Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Transport Planning in Freight Traffic, among others.

“Richard has gained extensive leadership experience in the industry and we are confident that he will play a significant role in cultivating the high-performance culture we are striving for in the Port Operations function for us to optimize efficiencies of our operations and overall attain Namport’s strategic goals going forward,” the statement noted.
