Windhoek: Swapo Party President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has urged Namibians to give the ruling party a renewed and decisive mandate in the Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections set for 26 November 2025. Launching the Swapo party elections campaign at Walvis Bay’s Kuisebmond Stadium on Saturday, Nandi-Ndaitwah said, voting for Swapo will consolidate the nation’s democratic process and accelerate local development.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasized that the November polls complete the country’s democratic cycle by determining regional and local leaders who directly influence service delivery. She stated, “As we all know, regional councils and local authorities are the heart of our governing system. They are the closest institutions to our people, mandated to deliver essential services, drive local development, and ensure that no Namibian is left behind.”
Nandi-Ndaitwah highlighted the importance of regional and local governance, noting that it is at this level where the dignity of people is uplifted. She expressed that the Swapo Party has always understood this responsibility, placing a strong emphasis on building effective and responsive governance at these levels.
The party’s campaign will continue with the theme from last year’s presidential and parliamentary elections, ‘Unity in Diversity: Natural Resources Beneficiation and Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development.’ The president noted that the party’s manifesto for 2025-2030 focuses on empowering young people, improving service delivery, and ensuring that Namibia’s natural resources benefit all citizens.
She urged the electorate to support Swapo Party representatives, as their election would ensure well-coordinated, efficient, and high-quality service delivery across constituencies and local authorities. “With that coordination and unity for a common purpose, developmental programmes will be fully implemented without delay,” Nandi-Ndaitwah assured.
Nandi-Ndaitwah also pointed out the progress made by the government under the Swapo administration, citing cost-saving measures in the health sector and the launch of the National Youth Fund, which has financed 42 youth enterprises.
