Windhoek: Junior cyclist Roger Suren and elite female rider Anri Greef were crowned champions of the 26th edition of the Namibian Cycle Classic after dominating their respective races. The annual event attracted over 500 riders, who competed across three categories of 25 kilometres (km), 60km, and 100km.According to Namibia Press Agency, in the 100km women's race, Greef broke away early from the peloton and cycled most of the route alone, maintaining a strong lead until the finish line. Meanwhile, the men's race was marked by an error when the leading trio of Drickus Coetzee, Marco Thiel, and Christian Janse van Rensburg were misdirected by a marshal, allowing the chasing group to catch up.Suren, who recently won a silver medal at the Cross-Country World Championships, added another title to his name by completing the 100km race in two hours, 26 minutes, and 24 seconds, finishing ahead of teammate Marco Thiel. In the women's division, Greef finished with a time of 02:43:51, securing her victory over Rosem ary Thiel and Melissa Heinz.Speaking to NAMPA, Suren expressed his excitement about claiming his first road race title, while Greef noted her satisfaction with her performance and successful title defense. Both riders also celebrated victories in Saturday's Mountain Bike event.
