Brave Warriors’ versatile defender Ryan Nyambe has signed a one-year deal with newly promoted Championship side Wigan Athletic Football Club (FC),
He announced his decision in a post on his official social media pages on Wednesday, when he thanked his previous employers, Blackburn FC, saying his 11-year stay at the club has been amazing.
“Thank you to the staff for helping me become the person and footballer that I am today. I have enjoyed a very special journey at an amazing club that will always have a special place in my heart. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to have met and played with great players who have become family to me,” he said.
Nyambe also thanked Blackburn FC fans for being part of his journey that saw him play 200 first-team matches for them after making his debut as a 17-year-old in August 2015.
The 24-year-old Namibian international joined the club as a 13-year-old and has represented his country of birth seven times.
Blackburn FC is said to have wanted to retain him as their player, but Nyambe expressed his desire to move away from what he termed ‘comfort zone’, to face new challenges
