Eheke: The Oshana Regional Council is set to embark on the construction of 10 houses for low-income earners in the Eheke settlement area under the Build Together Programme (BTP). This initiative has been allocated a budget of N.dollars 800,000.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the Oshana Regional Council’s Senior Public Relations Officer, Nuusita Ashipala, stated that this project highlights the council’s dedication to enhancing the living conditions of its residents. It aligns with the government’s broader objectives to provide serviced land and decent housing for all Namibians. Ashipala emphasized that this endeavor is a testament to the council’s commitment to providing land to its residents and supporting the government’s vision for housing.

Ashipala also mentioned that the project is part of the council’s efforts to uplift the standard of living in the region by ensuring affordable housing opportunities for residents, particularly those from low-income backgrounds. She noted that the Build Together Programme remains a vital tool in addressing the national housing backlog, especially for low- and middle-income earners.

She further urged beneficiaries who have already received plots to commence construction promptly. “We encourage those who have been allocated plots to start building their houses in order to speed up the development of the area,” she said.

To date, the council has allocated 209 residential plots and 21 business plots at the Eheke settlement.
