Khost: Two motorcyclists were killed in a road accident in eastern Afghanistan’s Khost province, a local police official reported late Friday. The accident occurred in the Nawi Koot area of Nader Shah Koot district when a motorcycle carrying two riders collided with a truck, resulting in the immediate death of both riders at the scene, provincial police spokesman Tahir Ehrar told Xinhua.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the deceased were transported to a provincial hospital, with the crash attributed to reckless driving. This incident follows another accident earlier this week in northern Samangan province, where nine commuters were injured after a passenger bus collided with a truck.

Traffic accidents in Afghanistan claim thousands of lives each year. The causes often include reckless driving, overloaded vehicles, poor road conditions, lack of traffic signs, and deteriorating highways.
