A 25-year-old Namibian woman was allegedly raped by a 27-year-old man in the Nomtsoub residential area in Tsumeb on Saturday.

According to a crime report issued by Namibian Police Force spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi on Sunday, it is alleged that the suspect escorted the inebriated victim out of a bar before raping her in a riverbed.

“The victim and suspect are just friends,” Shikwambi said.

The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The police continue to investigate.
