Gobabis: Young African FC, a premier league team based in Gobabis, has announced its participation in the Namibia Football Association (NFA)’s Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2025/26 season. The announcement follows discussions with the NFA executive council about the establishment of an independent Premier League.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Young African FC manager Maleagi Ngarizemo stated that the NFA executive council has acknowledged the initiative for an independent league structure, which will be implemented starting with the 2026/27 season once all necessary processes are completed. Consequently, the club has decided to maintain its membership within the NPFL under the NFA for the upcoming season.
Ngarizemo emphasized the club’s focus on building a competitive squad to achieve success for their supporters and stakeholders. Training will commence on Monday, 20 October 2025, after a brief break following the team’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup. Current players have been instructed to report for duty, and open trials will be held for aspiring players. The NFA player registration deadline is Friday, 24 October 2025.
Due to ongoing rehabilitation at Legare Stadium in Gobabis, Young African FC will temporarily base its training and home matches in Windhoek. The stadium’s refurbishment is expected to be completed by January 2026. In the meantime, the team plans to engage fans across Namibia by hosting selected matches in various towns and cities, with details to be announced later.
Ngarizemo expressed gratitude to fans, sponsors, and partners for their continued support, committing to a successful 2025/26 campaign.
