Windhoek: Zambezi Region Governor, Dorothy Kabula, is urging residents to guard against gender-based violence and human trafficking this festive season. The governor, delivering her Christmas and New Year message at her office, emphasized the importance of vigilance, stating, “Let us not forget that the Zambezi Region is the gateway to all African countries, therefore, let’s guard against human trafficking and gender-based violence. Let us report this issue to the police officials.”

According to Namibia Press Agency, the governor stressed the need for residents to prioritize safety as the festive season brings many families together. She highlighted the small population of the country, emphasizing that it cannot afford to lose lives. “This season brings us together as family; therefore, I would like to urge all of us to prioritize our safety as we embark upon these long trips coming back to our regions,” she noted.

On December 8, 2025, the governor officially welcomed participants to the two-day National Men’s Conference, held in the Zambezi Region for the first time. During the conference, she encouraged participants to share experiences and challenges, addressing harmful norms and practices that perpetuate gender-based violence. The aim is for attendees to spread the message, become more knowledgeable, and act as ambassadors of positive masculinity and agents of change in the upcoming months.
