Herat: More than 100 addicted Afghans have rejoined their families and reintegrated into society after successfully completing recovery programs in Herat province, according to provincial director for counter-narcotics police, Mawlawi Hajji Hayatullah Rohani.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the personnel of the counter-narcotics police gathered over 100 drug-addicted individuals from various parts of Herat approximately three months ago. These individuals were then transported to rehabilitation centers, where they underwent treatment. After completing their recovery, they have now been sent back to their families.

The Afghan government has been actively working to combat drug addiction by outlawing the cultivation of illegal crops, such as opium poppy, and cracking down on drug production and trafficking. In recent years, thousands of drug-addicted individuals have been rounded up and rehabilitated before being returned to their families.
