Abuja: The Madina feeding committee, headed by Alhaji Abdullahi Kabir, has inspected the kitchens contracted to serve Nigerian pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj operation. According to Suwaiba Ahmed, the Information Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), the committee conducted the NAHCON Advance Team, led by the Madina Coordinator, Alhaji Abdulkadir Oloyin, around the seven kitchens contracted for the Hajj feeding operation.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Ahmed noted that the inspection aimed to ascertain the readiness of caterers to serve Nigerian pilgrims, focusing on hygiene, quality of the food, and the facilities. The NAHCON information officer stated that the inspection included evaluating the cleanliness, equipment, and workforce of the facilities to ensure effective delivery during the Hajj operations.

Oloyin met with the contractors and raised concerns about food packaging, noting that some caterers were using sub-standard plastic containers. The meeting resulted in an agreement on a uniform packaging standard for all caterers. Oloyin also emphasized the importance of adhering to the menu provided by NAHCON and delivering food to the pilgrims' accommodation on time, warning of consequences for violators.

Meanwhile, the committee in charge of accommodation is working to ensure that everything is in place before the first batch of Nigerian pilgrims arrives in Saudi Arabia on May 9, 2025.
