Kabul: The Afghan interim government has welcomed Pakistan's decision to elevate its diplomatic mission to the level of ambassador, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated late Saturday evening. "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan welcomes the decision of the government of Pakistan to upgrade the level of its diplomatic mission in Kabul to that of an ambassador," said the statement by the ministry's deputy spokesman Hafiz Zia Ahmad posted on X.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the Afghan government has reciprocated by announcing that it will elevate the status of its mission in Islamabad from charg© d'affaires to ambassador. This move is seen as a step towards fostering stronger diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The statement emphasized that this elevation in diplomatic representation between Afghanistan and Pakistan could pave the way for enhanced bilateral cooperation in multiple domains. Both countries are looking forward to improving relations and working together on issues of mutual interest.

This development follows the China-Afghanistan-Pakistan trilateral dialogue in Beijing on May 21, which focused on improving regional cooperation. The dialogue underscored the importance of diplomatic engagement and collaboration in ensuring regional stability and prosperity.
