Ongwediva: David Akuunda of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) was on Monday sworn in as the newest councillor of the Ongwediva Town Council. Akuunda stepped into the position previously held by fellow IPC councillor Ottilie Haitota.According to Namibia Press Agency, this transition was carried out in accordance with Section 10 (1) of the Local Authorities Act, 1992 (Act No. 23 of 1992), as amended. Haitota departed from the Ongwediva Town Council earlier this year to assume a seat in the National Assembly, leading to the subsequent swearing-in of Akuunda.The occasion was presided over by the chairperson of the council, Taarah Shalyefu, who also serves as the mayor.
