Rio de janeiro: Uncapped Nottingham Forest goalkeeper John Victor has been called up to Brazil's squad for friendlies against South Korea and Japan, the Brazilian Football Confederation announced on Sunday. The 29-year-old has been brought in as a replacement for Ederson, who was released after suffering a torn hamstring during training with his club Fenerbahce on Saturday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, John joined Nottingham Forest in August from Botafogo, where he was part of the team that won last year's Brazilian Serie A and Copa Libertadores double. His inclusion in the national team marks a significant milestone in his career as he steps into the international arena.

Brazil is set to face South Korea in Seoul on October 10, followed by a match against Japan in Tokyo four days later. Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti has expressed that these friendlies will be crucial for fine-tuning the team's preparations for next year's FIFA World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
