Luanda: Angolan President Joao Lourenco met with visiting German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, with both sides agreeing to strengthen bilateral cooperation in restructuring Angola's national airline, TAAG, and developing a new agro-industrial project.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the two presidents also witnessed a signing ceremony where Angola's Minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu, and representatives of Lufthansa formalized the implementation of the bilateral air services agreement. They also signed a contract for Lufthansa Consulting to assist in restructuring TAAG.
Abreu stated that the partnership aims to improve corporate governance, operations, maintenance, engineering, and route planning to enhance TAAG's competitiveness.
The Angolan government also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with two German firms to establish an agro-industrial development hub in the country.
