Gyeongju: Leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) on Saturday adopted a joint declaration as they concluded the two-day meeting on deepening cooperation for a sustainable future.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the Gyeongju Declaration highlights the importance of collaboration among APEC member economies in the face of significant challenges within the global trading system. The declaration also addresses the rapid advancement of transformative technologies and demographic shifts, which are anticipated to have profound and long-term impacts on the region's economies.

The declaration emphasizes the need for strengthened cooperation and specific actions to ensure economic growth that is inclusive and beneficial for all member economies. In addition to the main declaration, APEC leaders endorsed two important initiatives: the APEC Artificial Intelligence Initiative and the APEC Collaborative Framework for Demographic Changes. These documents aim to guide member economies in navigating the challenges and opportunities presented by technological advancements and demographic changes.
