The swimmer Lia Lima won Thursday the bronze medal in the 200m backstroke, with a time of 2:41:95, at the African Championship in zone IV, underway at the Alvalade swimming pool, in Luanda.
It is the athlete’s second medal in this continental event, after the gold won on Wednesday, in the 100m backstroke, with a time of 1:13.31.
Even though it was not her best specialty, the national butterfly player prevailed in the series made up of seven competitors.
The gold medal went to Namibian Nicole Redecker (2.37.08), while the silver was won by South African Leah Chiristie (2.40.32).
In men’s, this morning, Silvério Manuel, from the youth class, took another bronze in the 200m breaststroke (2.54.13), while the Namibian Liam Linnaird was the winner (2.45.71) and the Mozambican Mason Cohen (2.45.77) won silver.
Angola’s performance in the morning was also marked by the silver medal in the masters category, through José Panzo, who in a 200m breaststroke course clocked 2.56.90.
